Concept

We partnered with Future Brain Media to create the first two games for the Webby-winning PBS KIDS series City Island. We were challenged to translate the incredibly detailed and unique look of the show where 'everything is alive!' into two innovative gameplay experiences. We worked very closely with the Future Brain team to create Neighbor Maker and City Island Adventure!

Neighbor Maker

Neighbor Maker is the ultimate wish fulfillment for any City Island fan -- they can create their very own characters! Players can mix and match features to build custom characters within the signature City Island style.

We elevated the gameplay by then bringing those customized characters into themed event spaces straight from the series, where players can take photos, uncover interactive surprises and complete challenges. Players become fully immersed in the City Island community!

City Island Adventure

We were honored to be nominated for a Kidscreen award in the Best Alternative Game category! City Island Adventure is an immensely detailed game that encourages players to explore every inch of City Island! Players work with the main characters to improve the community -- no problem is too small -- or big -- for Watt and Windy! The game includes many microinteractions and an impressive suite of characters to make the whole game feel incredibly alive!

Explore and fix up the city! Players walk through City Island, helping solve problems around town while discovering a lively world full of colorful characters and interactive moments.

Together, these games provide opportunities for kids to step into the world of City Island and make it their own, promoting the series' core mission of encouraging kids to participate in and improve their local communities. From creating characters to exploring the city, each experience was designed to empower kids to play and interact!
